Bollywood Face Time
It was IIFA (Indian International Film Academy) weekend in Toronto and even though I did not have tickets to the awards show, I just had to get some Bollywood face time. How was I going to pull it off, with a trip to and from the suburbs for a wedding the day of? Somehow, I needed to make it just in time as the actors and producers walked the green carpet at the Rogers Centre. It turns out I did not make it on time. I was trying to be Super Woman and we all know that only Lynda Carter can pull that off.
Getting wrapped, re-wrapped and unwrapped from a sari pre and post-wedding is time consuming. So is unpacking and packing again at my parents', jumping back on the Toronto transit, dumping my stuff at my place and then making an Amazing Race obstacle course dash to the Rogers Centre. Sometimes it just does not matter how far and how fast you can run in your Nike running shoes around Toronto, you just aren't going to make your destination on time.
But then there's the simple act of fate, of being at the right place at the right time, by pure coincidence; total random-ness. Walking around the city on a Sunday afternoon, I stumbled upon what ended up being a red carpet entrance by the Kapoor family at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. (King and John Sts.) After taking some snaps, I was just about to head home totally psyched and uber-satisfied. Then, I bumped into Ricky; a Bollywood fan who has the know-how and knack for getting up close and personal with celebrities. He has his own set of pictures to prove it too. Thanks to a night out with Ricky, I did not just get a red carpet snap of the Kapoors but ended up in the same hotel bar as them, sitting across and then eventually with them. Enjoy my 15 minutes of Bollywood Face Time on and off the red carpet.
